DIRECT REPAIR PROGRAMS
Direct repair programs are initiated by most insurance companies to ensure their policy holders are repaired properly and professionally. Floormax Flooring America is an approved vendor for just about every insurance company in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. Under these programs, Floormax Flooring America has established our credentials with your insurance carrier and has contracted to be paid directly by them for the work we perform in your home. Once you have selected us to repair your floors we will:
- Schedule an onsite introduction and inspection
- Submit a detailed estimate of repairs to your insurance company
- Make product selections with you and schedule the repairs estimated
- Submit satisfaction forms to your insurance company for payment
- Process with your mortgage company
- Mail your Warranty Packet
Below is a list of frequently asked questions that can help guide you through the process. Please do not hesitate to contact your Project Manager if you have any additional questions.
The same reason you go to a doctor for a cold and the allergist for asthma. Flooring is a specialty and should be done by flooring professionals. Insurance companies realized this long ago and have segmented their programs accordingly. We know floors because flooring is all we do! In fact, many of the general contractors that are approved vendors for the same direct repair programs we work with use Floormax Flooring America for all their flooring needs.
Absolutely, if you have a check from the insurance company for your damages, let us know so we can review it and make sure you have adequately been reimbursed for the damages and the cost for us to repair it. If you are currently working with a general contractor let us know and we will coordinate with them to move your project along as fast as professionally possible.
During this initial step, one of our Project Managers will meet with you at your home to take pictures, measurements, and samples of the damaged area in order to build an estimate for your insurance company. We will review with you all the paperwork necessary for us to begin the repairs/replacement and answer any questions you may have regarding the process.
We use a software program called Xactimate which provides us with pricing for most products and all labor performed. The estimates are uploaded electronically to your insurance company. Xactimate is used by ninety-five percent of all insurance companies to estimate damages and is continually updated to reflect current economic activity.
When we take samples of your floor, we send these samples to an independent laboratory, Itel, for analysis. This process takes three to four business days and the subsequent report gives us specifications with which we use to replace the damaged flooring with “like kind and quality”, while also providing us and you a price for the floor.
Once the estimate has been reviewed and approved by your insurance company, you may review it at anytime. Unless otherwise requested, we will send you a copy with your warranties at the conclusion of our work.
Each insurance company requires a different form so that will depend. For the most part:
- an Authorization to Begin Repairs form stating that you have met with us and have chosen us to repair your property as per the terms of your insurance policy
- a Mortgage Authorization form that will allow us to speak with your Mortgage Company regarding the damage to the home
- a form specific to your mortgage company at their request. Both spouses (even if one is not on the mortgage loan) and any other signer on the mortgage must sign the mortgage documents before materials can be ordered and any work begins.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT SIGNING THESE INSURANCE OR MORTGAGE DOCUMENTS DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO USE US AT THIS TIME, IT MEARLY MAKES THE PROCESS FASTER SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TOO. ONLY WHEN SELECTIONS ARE MADE AND MATERIALS ORDERED DO THEY GO INTO AFFECT.

Your insurance company is legally required to make the check for repairs performed payable to both Floormax Flooring America and your Mortgage Company. The check will be mailed to us and we will contact your mortgage provider for their endorsement. Over the many years we have been performing restoration work we have found that all mortgages companies will make this process as difficult as possible; with your help we can minimize the impact on you and deal with most of the headaches while you enjoy your new floors. In most cases after we have completed your repairs the mortgage company will want to send an independent inspector to the home before endorsing our payment. In order for us to communicate that we are done and an inspection can be called for, the mortgage company will have to have a signed Mortgage Authorization form signed by both spouses and any other signer on the loan. You may think it unnecessary for your wife or husband to sign this form if they are not on the loan, please do not underestimate the difficulty of dealing with a bank! As stated earlier, they will look for any reason to stall this process and without both your signatures they will not talk to us and will more than likely begin calling you repeatedly.

If you have a deductible due on your policy, please check with your adjuster as to whom they would like you to make payment too. In most cases, because we are the last trade to perform work in the house, they will assign us to collect the deductible. All deductibles are due the date of installation. If you are uncomfortable with this, we want you to trust in our work and company, and can allow you to pay your deductible at the time of your sign off on completion and satisfaction of our work. All deductibles not collected within ten (10) days of being signed off for the work completed will be turned over to Amerassit Collections; an outside collection agency.
Yes, we will be happy to discuss all the options available to you based on structure, design, and budget. If you have carpet and would like to go back with wood, vinyl, or tile, you can and we can help. If you would like additional work to be done outside the damaged areas, we are happy for the opportunity. Just let you project manager know what you would like done and we will have you an estimate for that work in no later than three days. All overages or work to be performed outside of what the insurance company is paying for will be due in full PRIOR to any materials being ordered or installed. All change orders or cancellations must be received in writing, a restocking fee of twenty five percent (25%) will be due for all returned products after delivery to Floormax Flooring America or the property. Interest deferred financing available to those who qualify.
